5. Was this Blog a Terrible Idea?

One thing I was thinking about yesterday was how I’m going to start writing my story. Do I write it here on the blog? What if someone takes my ideas? Although I suppose I am writing all of my ideas down….was this blog a terrible idea?

I wonder if I can write some of the story here and some on a Word doc.

Then there’s also the thing of needing to edit.

What I really want is to make sure this is a simple enough process that I don’t give it up. I mean I have started 8 other blogs and only one of them I stuck with for a few years.

Okay the format of this thing. Here are some options:

  • What if I start the story on a page on the blog? The I could update it as I go and keep adding on. Then again, that would make it super easy for someone to swipe and copy.
  • Alternatively, I can start in a post and then just add the next part to the next post.
  • Or I write the story on a word doc and only share parts or exerpts.

Since I’m not sure anyone is reading I can’t really get advice from you yet…

So I need to decide myself. I can always go back and change my mind. I went to a counselor during college and she gave me a list of things I should let myself do. One of them was reserving the right to change my mind.

Here’s my grand decision:

I’m going to start it in a post. And see how it goes. Here we goes. (<-more terrible grammar.)

About Amanda R. DeWitt

I'm a teacher, cat mom, wife to a bearded gentleman, and coffee junkie. I've always secretly wanted to be an author (or not so secretly--I've started 8 other blogs). This is my space to practice. It's not all great. It doesn't all make sense. But I'm doing it anyways. I'm happy you're here. :)
