42. Pretty liberal and strong-minded

Okay, I’m going to continue from post 41. He Was Not Okay With It.

Continuing Story #1

Noah searched for the right words. What had happened? Nick had took off with Beth in the car. He couldn’t say that to Alec. Noah knew Nick didn’t like Beth. Beth had stirred up a whole bunch of things for Nick’s dad, Mr. Busey, since she started at the elementary school. She was pretty liberal and strong-minded.

Nick’s mom was a strong, liberal woman herself. She couldn’t take it in Clear Water, so she took off when he was pretty young. Noah often wondered if Nick was taking out his anger on his mom on others.

“She…is with Nick. Nick Busey.” Noah started.

Alec had figured that was Noah’s “friend” that was referenced in Beth’s text message. But what the hell was Noah doing here instead of with Nick and Beth??

“He…I think he is messing with me because he drove away. I thought he would be back to pick me up soon, though.”

“Any idea why Beth wouldn’t be answering her phone?”

Noah thought about the Beth’s shriek as she fell onto the floor of the pickup when Nick made the sudden u-turn on the dirt road. The reason Noah had gotten out of the car to help her up. Was that a mistake?

“I’m not sure.” Noah was thinking again about calling the police. “He was taking Beth to the hospital for–“

“The hospital?? What the hell is going on??” Alec shouted.

I’m not sure I’m going to make my word goal for the month, seeing as how I JUST reached the halfway mark of 5K words. I’m just going to have to be okay with that!

About Amanda R. DeWitt

I'm a teacher, cat mom, wife to a bearded gentleman, and coffee junkie. I've always secretly wanted to be an author (or not so secretly--I've started 8 other blogs). This is my space to practice. It's not all great. It doesn't all make sense. But I'm doing it anyways. I'm happy you're here. :)
