41. He was not okay with it

Let’s go back to Noah and Alec. We haven’t talked about them since post 31: No Answer.

Honestly, I feel kind of stuck with what Beth and Nick are going to do. It seems extreme for Nick to keep her any longer, but maybe he does out of fear? He did lock the door, so I wonder what he will do once he gets into the car.

Anyways, we are going to jump back to Alec and Noah. We left off with Noah approaching the drive up to Alec and Beth’s farm. Alec is pacing and talking on the phone with someone.

Continuing Story #1

“Yeah, I know, Mom,” Alec said into the phone. “Hold on, Noah is coming…no Beth isn’t with him…hold ON!”

Noah was walking up the drive and overheard bits and pieces of the conversation. Alec knew something was going on and he was not okay with it.

Alec pulled his phone down, looking at Noah and started down the stairs from the front porch. “Hey.” he shouted at Noah, “where’s Beth? She said she was with you.” Alec’s eyes were looking for answers and Noah saw his left hand start to clench into a fist.

Alec wasn’t a violent man. He was a friendly guy. Almost too friendly. Beth more than once had come home to a stranger in their living room trying to sell them some kind of household appliance or home care service. Beth would sternly tell the stranger, “no thanks, we’re good!” while shooting daggers at Alec. That drove Beth crazy.

On the other hand, during snowstorms, Alec would pull over to the side of the road to help people who were stuck. Those acts of kindness would melt Beth’s heart.

Alec had a big heart, but he was also fed up. He was tired, confused and just wanted to know what the hell was going on. Plus his mom was on the phone asking one million questions to which he didn’t know the answer.

So I wrote this last weekend and didn’t publish it, thinking that I would write more. Turns out when I’m teaching I am only writing a little bit on weekends. Here’s to doing what I can!

About Amanda R. DeWitt

I'm a teacher, cat mom, wife to a bearded gentleman, and coffee junkie. I've always secretly wanted to be an author (or not so secretly--I've started 8 other blogs). This is my space to practice. It's not all great. It doesn't all make sense. But I'm doing it anyways. I'm happy you're here. :)
