I’m calling these posts brain dumps, but really you could call them brain storms or pre-writes if you want to get all fancy.
I wish I were fancy. I spend a lot of my life vacillating between wanting to prove I’m sophisticated and hating myself for having any kind of expendable income. Growing up poor and Christian will give you that sort of guilt.
So in the last brain dump, I decided that I would write a sort of journal style. So each chapter will be dated and have the main character’s thoughts on each page. I wonder if I should write with more than one character. Like where you jump back and forth between two characters. Hmm.
Main Character in Story #1
My main character will be a woman. I know women best, being one. She can be in her late twenties or early thirties. I think she will be wrestling with wanting to have children and focusing on her career and mental health. All of course based on a true story of me. I know other women experience this conundrum as well, so it will be relatable to some sort of an audience.
Okay so we have a main character. There is of course a lot more to her than the above stated. I think I want to go Steven King style and just plop her into the middle of a situation and see how she gets herself out. Now I just have to figure out what that situation will be.
Any other thoughts about her as a character should develop in the story, or I can write another post about it.
This whole blogging and developing a story thing is all new to me, so let’s see where it takes us!
